MUSIC & THE MIND
Each year, The Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl Party aims to create novel, interactive, and ground-breaking programming that connects the dots between the culture of our host city, and the ongoing mission to explore modalities and breakthroughs in mental health and brain health. While we find ourselves in the birthplace of Jazz on Super Bowl weekend 2025- we embrace the opportunity to illuminate the profound impact music has on our brain and mental health. Music is truly a universal language. While it can be an expression and representation of particular cultures and generations, it knows no boundaries of age, gender, socioeconomic background or religion when it comes to touching the souls of humankind.
Beyond just an art form - music is a catalyst for neurological health and resilience, wielding remarkable power in shaping cognitive function. Dopamine released fosters feelings of joy and motivation, which offers therapeutic benefits for depression and anxiety. Music therapy enhances memory and learning by activating particular areas of the brain, making it a valuable tool for those with neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. Rhythmic and melodic elements of music promote neural plasticity, encouraging the brain to form new connections and improve overall cognitive performance.
The benefits and possibilities of how music affects the mind, body and soul may be limitless and we are excited to explore them at our spotlight program:
MUSIC AND THE MIND—MAIN STAGE | 2:30PM
VENUE: THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ MUSEUM
The Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl event has been hosted at iconic, historic and magnificent venues in host cities across the country. Upholding this tradition, the 2025 event will make it’s home at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Jazz is the soul of the city…. A city that musical icons from Louis Armstrong to Lil Wayne have called home. Housed in the historic Old U.S. Mint Building, the museum celebrates not only the history but the legacy, musical stories, and modern incarnations of Jazz. Through energetic interactive exhibits, intergenerational education programming, research facilities and engaging musical performances, this destination attracts a spellbound local and global audience. Crowning the intersection of the French Quarter and the Frenchmen Street live music corridor, the New Orleans Jazz Museum is the heartbeat of New Orleans. This location nourishes intercultural exchange and supports the cultural economy of this vibrant and timeless city. It is a once in a lifetime experience that is always unique unto itself because in the words of Armstrong, this city “Never play(s) anything the same way twice”.
With a mission to explore all modalities that benefit and expand brain health, concussion recovery, and mental health, the Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl party will embrace our location in the birthplace of Jazz to explore how music benefits the mind.
There’s no better place to take that journey than the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
